/ we loved sleeping under mosquito nets in Bali and I've been thinking about hanging one above Poet's bed. For a little girl who doesn't need anything and doesn't want for much, I think it may be the ideal Christmas present.
/ beads, tassels and bangles in a copper bowl. I'm pretty sure this little collection will be worn all summer long.
/ I've flicked through the latest Nature Baby catalogue a few times now and I keep coming back to this page - look at all those mini terracotta pots! Nothing better than a lush, green herb looking happily at home in terracotta. Sometime this weekend I plan to visit my favourite local nurseries and stock up on some garden supplies. Fingers crossed they stock pots this small (doubt it, though).
/ Popa's garden - lovingly tended to but oh so dry. Upon returning from the tropics it's the one thing that shocked us; nature at its most dry and brittle. Our state has been experiencing the very worst kind of bushfires and hundreds of homes have been lost. Summer is so early and it makes me feel uneasy.
/ on our last day in Bali and the last time she saw her beloved yellow ball (no room in the suitcase for it).

ReplyDeleteSuch beautiful little trinkets. And nothing is quite so lovely as little terracotta pots. I'm the crazy lady at the nursery who sorts through them all to find the most weathered looking ones :) We've been bringing some green indoors lately and I'm loving it. ReplyDeleteJodi, the nursery I go to (over the bridge) stocks all those lovely little terracotta pots. We bought a couple the other weekend to house some glow-in-the-moon succulents. x

DeleteWe have mosquito nets. the children in particular love them. They feel magical I think. Even in the heat of summer, when sheets are kicked off, the netting makes you feel cocooned and cosy. xo

DeleteBeautiful photos. If Poet is still missing her yellow ball Kmart has similar ones for $3, it's probably my little one's favourite toy.
ReplyDeleteOur little guy has a mosquito net...we got him a cotton one at the local markets as all I could find in the shops were polyester nets. And even though he is still in his cot we got him a double size to ensure that the net comes down all the way to the ground so mosquitos cannot find their way up and in.
ReplyDeleteHis actually has quite an opulent canopy...a feminine touch in a room otherwise littered with cars and trains.

I wonder if the Bali birth centre was the Bumi Sehat Clinic with midwife Robin Lim? I blogged an interview with film maker Johnny Abegg a couple of weeks ago and added a link to his film on Robin. Such an incredibly inspiring woman.

ReplyDeleteyour blog is so beautiful. i'm from chicago and lived in australia for 6 months last year. it's fun to read someone from australia, making comparisons to life in bali .. for me, I'd say byron bay is a bit like san francisco, with less hills and more hippie :). i loved it there. thanks for sharing!!
